Modes, setting and gameplay

Star Wars: Galactic Racer consists of both a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode. In addition to the single-player campaign, there is an Arcade mode, which includes time trials and races with other objectives.[1] In addition to the races, the single-player campaign also includes elements off the track that can be controlled with the player character.[2]

The game is set in the New Republic Era after the events described in the film Return of the Jedi.[3] Star Wars: Galactic Racer features race car drivers from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace: e.g., Ben Quadinaros and Sebulba.[2]

The science fiction racing game features multiple tracks on several Star Wars planets; locations include the planets Hoth, Endor, Tatooine, Lantaana, Jakku, Ando Prime and Sentinel One.[3][2] According to the developers, there is no single ideal racing line on the tracks.[2]

The selectable vehicle classes include podracers, landspeeders, speeder bikes, and skimspeeders. Vehicle building is another gameplay element.[1][4][5]

In the online multiplayer mode up to 12 players can participate in a race.[1] A ranking system is planned for the multiplayer mode.[6]

Plot of the solocampaign

The races in the single-player campaign take place within the framework of the so-called Galactic League, founded by Darius Pax and takes place in the lawless Outer Rim. The villainous racer Kestar Bool, who dominates the League, attempts to oust Pax from the racing business with the support of his clan. Pax then seeks help from Shade, a mysterious loner among the racers with a personal grudge against the Bool family, to overthrow Kestar and regain control of the competition he created.[1]

Development

The game was unveiled in December 2025 with a trailer at The Game Awards and announced for release in 2026 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.[7] The game's developer, Fuse Games, based in Guildford, has been working on it since its founding in 2023.[3] Fuse Games was founded by senior developers from Criterion Games, the studio behind the Need for Speed and Burnout.[8][7]

In February 2026, the first in-game scenes were presented via a second trailer.[9]

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is the third Star Wars racing game, following Star Wars Episode I: Racer (released in 1999) and its 2002 sequel Star Wars Racer Revenge.[10]
